Privacy policy

Effective October 4, 2026. Tanjiro is built so that what you say, show and share stays on your iPhone.

This policy covers Tanjiro, an assistant for iPhone published by King Of The Hour, LLC ("we"), bundle identifier com.kingofthehour.iphonellm.tanjiroai, including its share extension, and this website.

Summary

  • Chat, voice, photo understanding, picture drawing, text recognition and sound recognition run on your iPhone. There is no cloud AI.
  • Tanjiro has no advertising, tracking or analytics, and does not require an account.
  • We do not run servers that receive your conversations, memories, email, texts, photos, voice or other content, and we never sell or share it.
  • The app connects to the internet only to download the models you choose, to reach email accounts you connect, and for optional online features you allow.

Information processed on your device

Your messages, Tanjiro's replies, saved memories, photos and files you attach, text recognized from photos, scans and documents, pictures Tanjiro draws, items you share to Tanjiro, texts you forward to it, voice transcripts and recognized sounds are processed on your iPhone by Tanjiro's built-in models and Apple's on-device frameworks. Speech recognition is set to run on the device; if your language is not available on the device, Tanjiro tells you instead of sending audio anywhere. Sound recognition only listens for sounds such as a doorbell or alarm while you have it visibly turned on, and audio is never stored or sent.

Conversations, the action log, memories, forwarded texts, shared items and drawn pictures are stored in protected app storage on your iPhone. They are excluded from device backups and are not synced by Tanjiro to iCloud or any other service. Memories are saved only when you ask Tanjiro to remember something or approve a memory change. Pictures reach your photo library only when you tap Save to Photos, and Tanjiro never reads your photo library.

When you grant permission, Tanjiro uses iOS features such as Calendar, Reminders, Contacts, location, Home, Music, Bluetooth accessories, Shortcuts and Maps. Messages, emails, calls and other actions that reach other people always ask for your approval first, and changes on your iPhone ask too unless you turn off "Confirm changes on this iPhone" in Settings. Accounts and services you have configured in iOS (for example, calendar sync, Apple Music or a HomeKit hub) operate under Apple's and their providers' own policies, as does any message or email you send from Apple's compose sheets or from your own Shortcuts.

Forwarded texts

iPhone apps cannot read your Messages. If you set up a Shortcuts automation that forwards texts to Tanjiro, it stores the sender, the text and the time on your iPhone (at most 500 texts, kept for 30 days) so you can ask about them. You can delete them by sender or all at once in Settings. Forwarded texts are treated as other people's words, never as instructions.

Model downloads

Tanjiro's models are downloaded when you tap Download, directly from Hugging Face (huggingface.co), or imported from the Files app. Like any web server, Hugging Face receives standard request information such as your IP address, the time and the file requested. No conversation content is sent. Every file is checked against a fingerprint before use. See the Hugging Face privacy policy.

Optional online features

Online features and the in-app browser each follow a setting you control: Off, Ask before connecting (the default) or Allowed. With Ask, Tanjiro shows the service, its address, the purpose and exactly what will be sent before anything leaves your iPhone, and you choose Don't Send, Send Once or Always Allow. The services are:

  • DuckDuckGo for web search by default, or Brave Search if you add your own key. They receive your search text.
  • Open-Meteo for weather, which receives the location you ask about, rounded to about 1 km if it is your current location.
  • Apple Maps for place names and nearby places, which receives your search and, if you allow location, an approximate area. Directions open in the Maps app.
  • Apple Music for catalog searches, under your Apple Music account.
  • Finnhub for stock quotes and 17TRACK for package tracking, used only with your own API keys, which are stored in your iPhone's Keychain. They receive the symbol or tracking number and your key.
  • Websites you open or fetch in the in-app browser, which receive standard request information. Requests carry no cookies or saved website passwords, and website scripts do not run.

Each service receives your IP address and the request itself and handles it under its own privacy policy. We do not receive these requests or their results. Text found on web pages is treated as information, never as instructions.

Connected email

You may connect up to five email accounts so Tanjiro can search and summarize your mail on your iPhone. Access is read-only:

  • Gmail uses Google sign-in with the read-only Gmail permission (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.readonly) only.
  • Outlook and Microsoft 365 use Microsoft sign-in with the read-only Mail.Read and User.Read permissions, plus offline_access to stay signed in.
  • iCloud Mail and other mail servers use an app-specific password you enter, over encrypted connections.

Sign-in tokens and passwords are stored only in your iPhone's Keychain. Tanjiro connects directly from your iPhone to Google, Microsoft or your mail server. It reads message headers and text only when you ask (there is no background checking) and never sends, deletes, moves or marks email as read. Attachments and remote images are not downloaded. Email content is processed on your iPhone; it is never sent to us, to any AI service or to any other third party, and it is not used for advertising or to train any model. Emails are treated as information, never as instructions. Email excerpts and summaries are kept only in the conversation and action log on your iPhone until you delete that conversation.

Disconnecting an account in Tanjiro removes its stored credentials from your iPhone. You can also revoke access at any time in your Google Account or Microsoft account settings, or by revoking the app-specific password at account.apple.com.

Tanjiro's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Information received from Google APIs is used only to provide the email search and summary features you request inside Tanjiro. It is not transferred to anyone, used for advertising, read by humans, or used to develop or train AI or machine-learning models.

Your choices and deleting data

  • Delete individual conversations or all conversations in the app.
  • Review, edit or delete memories in Settings, Memory.
  • Delete forwarded texts by sender or all at once.
  • Disconnect email accounts, remove API keys, or set online features and the in-app browser to Off.
  • Delete downloaded models in the app.
  • Change iOS permissions in iPhone Settings at any time.
  • Delete the app to remove all of Tanjiro's data from your iPhone.

Because your content stays on your iPhone, we cannot access, export or delete it for you; these controls are how you manage it.

Children

Tanjiro is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information to us.

Support, retention and security

If you email support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use it only to respond, keep it as long as needed for support and legal obligations, and you may ask us to delete it. Please do not send passwords, API keys or email content.

Tanjiro uses iOS data protection, the Keychain and encrypted connections, but no system can guarantee absolute security.

This website

tanjiroai.com uses no cookies, analytics or advertising. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which may process ordinary request logs, such as IP addresses, to deliver and secure the site.
